Exciting Styles That Keep Kids Moving
Ballet is the foundation of all dance, and in our 2nd–3rd Grade classes, dancers start to deepen their understanding of technique while still keeping things light and fun. With a focus on posture, alignment, and graceful movement, ballet helps young dancers build strength, flexibility, and discipline. Our instructors break down each step in a way that makes sense for growing bodies and minds, while always cheering on individuality and progress.
This combo class blends the upbeat energy of jazz with the expressive style of lyrical, giving dancers the best of both worlds. In jazz, dancers groove to fun, age-appropriate music while learning kicks, turns, and jumps that build precision and power. Lyrical introduces storytelling through movement, helping dancers connect emotion to music in a way that feels natural and inspiring. It’s the perfect mix of fun and focus—building confidence, musicality, and a love for performing.
Full of energy, style, and self-expression, Hip Hop is a favorite for our 2nd–3rd Grade dancers. This class keeps things fresh and fun with age-appropriate music and movement that encourages dancers to let loose and be themselves. While they learn basic grooves, footwork, and musicality, dancers also build confidence and coordination in an upbeat, supportive setting. No previous experience needed—just a love for music and a willingness to move!
In Musical Theatre class, dancers get to step into character and bring stories to life through movement, expression, and a little bit of drama—in the best way! Using music from kid-friendly Broadway hits and animated favorites, this class blends basic dance technique with acting and performance skills. Dancers learn how to connect with an audience, use facial expressions, and build stage presence, all while having an absolute blast.
Tap class is all about rhythm, sound, and making some joyful noise! In our 2nd–3rd Grade Tap classes, dancers learn to use their feet like instruments—exploring patterns, timing, and musicality through fun, structured combinations. This class helps build coordination, focus, and a strong sense of timing, all while keeping dancers engaged and smiling. Every shuffle, stomp, and cramp roll brings a little more confidence to their step.

Why Bluffton School of Dance Stands Out for 2nd–3rd Graders
At this age, kids are full of energy, imagination, and growing independence—and what they do outside the classroom can shape how they see themselves. See how our 2nd–3rd Grade dance classes compare to typical rec sports or after-school programs.
Traditional sports often emphasize performance and winning, which can create pressure and leave some kids behind.
From tryouts to limited playtime, kids who are still learning may feel left out or discouraged.
In team settings, coaches often have limited time for personalized support.
Sports are great for movement, but rarely encourage imagination or emotional development.
We focus on effort, progress, and celebrating each dancer’s personal wins. No scores. Just growth, courage, and confidence.
Whether it’s your child’s first dance class or their fifth recital, every dancer is included, valued, and cheered on.
Our instructors know every dancer by name and teach with patience, positivity, and purpose.
From the structure of ballet to the fun of jazz and hip hop, our classes combine discipline with self-expression.
